I'd built websites before, basic
WordPress sites, a few landing pages, nothing complex. I'd also worked in tech-adjacent roles, so I understood hosting, DNS,
analytics, and the basics of
SEO. But I'd never built a SaaS product or a full Next.js platform with server-side rendering, schema markup generation, and a
component library. I started from scratch on the code side, learning Next.js as I went.
The market knowledge was the advantage, I'd spent months talking to tradespeople, reviewing their existing websites, and understanding exactly what they needed but weren't getting from the agencies they'd used. The combination of market knowledge and willingness to learn the technical side from scratch was what made it possible.
