Questions and answers

• How do you distinguish productive work from distractions when tracking apps and websites, and can I correct those labels if they don’t match how I use them?

How does Time decide what’s productive?
It doesn’t decide for you. Time ships with no built-in judgments about which apps or sites are productive. You sort apps and websites into categories and mark each category productive, neutral, or unproductive. Time then applies those labels to your tracked activity. For apps it recognizes, Time can suggest a starting classification, but nothing is applied until you accept it.

  Can I correct the labels?
Yes. You can change a category’s label or edit your rules at any time, and the change applies to your history and your charts without a restart. If one stretch of time doesn’t fit the rule (say, YouTube for a tutorial rather than for fun), you can correct that session on its own and later return it to automatic classification.
