Questions and answers

• How do you prevent outdated version or deployment details from being shown when CI/CD updates arrive out of order or a deployment fails?

In a typical setup, the GitHub Action (abouttheapp/sync) runs as the last step of the deployment workflow. It records the version and then the deployment to the customer's environment. If a deployment fails, the workflow stops before that step, and AboutTheApp keeps showing the version that is actually running. Optionally, verify-url adds a check against the running app. The action polls the URL until the app reports the new version and only then records the deployment.

Each recorded deployment becomes a new entry in the environment's history, with the newest one shown as current. Rollbacks are recorded the same way. To keep reports in deployment order, run deployments to an environment in sequence with a concurrency group. In the dashboard you can pin any deployment as current, correct its date or remove an entry.
