• How do you handle conflicting or revised official data, and can I see which source and release vintage was used for a figure in the past?

  DESK does not mix or average conflicting sources. Every figure is shown with the source it comes from and the date of the data, so you always know whose number you are looking at. When two institutions publish different values for the same thing, DESK keeps them as separate series with their own source instead of picking one.

  Official figures often get revised. DESK checks the sources every hour and follows a revision on the day it is published, so the current value is always the latest official one. Every night independent checks also compare the figures in DESK with the original sources, and any difference gets corrected.

  Older vintages are not kept as a separate history yet. DESK shows the figure as the source currently publishes it, together with the source and date. If you need the exact release that was valid at an earlier point in time, the original source is the place to check.
