GrimDex is a native Windows file manager with a live index of the NTFS file table underneath it. Typing a query returns matches from whole drives, not only the folders Windows chose to index, and they arrive inside a working pane rather than a dead result list, ready to preview, rename, copy, or move with the system icons, drag and drop, and right-click extensions Windows already has. USB sticks, external disks, network shares, cloud drives, and WSL distributions open in those same panes, and any folder there searches with its subfolders. Layouts hold their shape: split panes nest, tabs dock between them, each pane keeps its own view, frequent folders stay pinned, and a finished layout saves as a profile that reopens as it was left. GrimDex is one small Rust executable for 64-bit Windows 10 and newer, with no account, no telemetry, and no background service. Nothing about the files leaves the PC. The evaluation is free and fully functional. The license is bought once, not monthly.
